The crowd chanted
"New Fuckin' Show" at Lynn during the match as a reference to Lynns classic
match with "Whole Fuckin' Show" RVD at the previous PPV "Living Dangerously
99", where many believe Lynn was the uncrowned champion 8.5/10.

Lance Storm comes out wearing a "WCW Monday Jericho T-Shirt", with Dawn
Marie and cuts an interview about Tommy
Dreamer's accusations that Storm is a steroid user. Lance wants to prove
his innocence so much, that he has produced a urine sample in a small
bottle. Dreamer comes out and DDT's Storm then pours the "urine" on him.

Nova beat Rod Price in a dull bout. Reno and Chris Chetti both interfered
during the match for their respective tag team partners and the ending with
Nova and Chetti hitting a double splash/legdrog combo from the top rope on
Price, was great! Nova is now known in the WWE as Simon Dean 4/10.

Super Crazy beat El Mosco De La Merced in a great spotfest with some nice
reversals, mat work and appriciation from the crowd 8/10.

Taka Michinoku beat Papi Chulo in a great high flying encounter. Chulo was
also known as Essa Rios and Augila in the WWE and this match may be better
than the Augila/Taka "Wrestlemania XIV" match 8/10.

Joey Styles is in the ring and introduces the man who celebrates his one
year anniversary as the ECW TV Champion:Rob Van Dam who comes out with Bill
Alfonso and talks about being the "Whole Fuckin' Show" on the mic before
Too Cold Scorpio is introduced as his opponant.

[ECW TV Title]Rob Van Dam beat Too Cold Scorpio in a great, long match full
of high spots. Sabu interferes later in the match and hits one of his
trademark suicide dives on Scorpio through a table on the outside! 8.5/10.

Steve Corino comes out to cut a promo about how he hates "hardcore"
wrestling and how he is going to bring the Wrestling back to Extreme
Championship Wrestling. Taz comes out and Corino looks like he's crapped
himself! Corino makes an excuse up about being injured and not able to face
Taz but he has a substitute in the form of Chris Candido(WWF's former Skip)
who comes out with Tammy(WWF's former Sunny), who's looking as tasty as
ever.

[ECW Title]Taz beat Chris Candido in a good brawl that ended when Taz
locked in his Tazzmission and Tazz-plexed Candido backwards, through a
table set up in the turnbuckle, leading to the ref to stop the match and
order the paramedics to take Candido away 6.5/10.

Shane Douglas beat Justin Credible in a pretty boring brawl. Douglas cuts a
great promo before the match though and the aftermath where Lance Storm and
Tommy Dreamer get involved is much more interesting and exciting than the
match itself! 4.5/10

Balls Mahoney/New Jack/Axl Rotten beat Mustafa/Dudleyz in a single ring,
weapons ridden "War Games Cage Match" that wasn't particularly good but the
sheer
brutality on display in this match warrents it a watch and New Jacks 187
from the top of the cage through a table on Mustafa is the definenite
highlight! 5.5/10.

Overall ECW Cyberslam 99 was a very good show, perhaps the best ECW show of
1999. The card is consistently solid until the last two matches but even
those have their moments. 8/10-no real classic matches, but plenty here
that should be seen. Best Match=A tie between Lynn/Tajiri and RVD/Scorpio.
Worst Match=Nova/Price

Wrestlemania Rewind |> |> XI / X

Wrestlemania XI:"Double Main Event" send emails to the reviewer
theantichrist@activemail.co.uk

Card=Allied Powers beat Jacob & Eli Blu in a poor tag team encounter that
was only made watchable thanks to the crowd 3.5/10. The
Undertaker beat King Kong Bundy in a horrible match 1/10. (I Quit
Match)Bret Hart beat Bob Backlund in a shockingly dull match that
featured Roddy Piper as guest referee. 3/10-this should have stole the
show! (WWF Tag Titles)Owen Hart/Yokozuna beat Smoking Gunns in a boring
match 2/10. (I-C Title)Razor Ramon beat Jeff Jarrett by DQ in a good but
not great match that paled in comparison to their previous Rumble match
6.5/10.(WWF Title)Diesel beat Shawn Michaels in a good but ultimately
disappointing match. HBK expectadly carried this one but the match did have
a few dull moments and the crowd wasn't too enthusiastic about the match
either! 7.5/10-some interesting crowd reactiosn here too with babyface
Diesel getting booed while heel Shawn got cheered. (Special Challenge
Match)Lawrence Taylor beat Bam Bam Bigelow in a mess of a match that was
only made watchable by the crowd who
were well into it. How the hell did this match become the main event? What
idiot decided to put this match
on last? Who the hell thought that a match featuring a former NFL star was
more important than a WWF Title Match? This is definetly the worst
Wrestlemania main event of alltime, solely because it was put on last! I
mean, there have been worse main event matches at Wrestlemania than this
one, but the fact it was considered more important than the WWF Title match
is unforgivable! 2/10-Taylor deserves credit here cause he really did make
an effort, as did Bigelow but the match was simply a failed experiment.

Overall=Another candidate for worst Wrestlemania of alltime with no must
see matches and more than a few stinkers! Even the better matches of the
night(Razor/Jarrett, Shawn/Diesel) seemed to lack something! 2/10 Best
Match=Shawn/Diesel. Worst Match=Undertaker/Bundy.

My WM-XI Card=(WWF Title)Shawn vs Diesel vs Bret(since Bret &
Diesel went to a no contest at the 95 Rumble, Bret had a good argument to
be in
this match!). (WWF Tag
Titles)Bob Holly/1-2-3 Kid vs Heavenly Bodies(I'd have had Holly & Kid beat
Smoking Gunns before the PPV and have had the Bodies win the titles here,
like they should have a long time before!). (I-C Title/Ladder
Match)Jeff Jarrett vs Razor Ramon(it could have been a classic!). (Womens
Title)Alundra Blayze vs Bull Nakano(those two had a hell of a match the
night after Wrestlemania XI, why not have just had it at the PPV!) 2nd
Annual WWF/NFL
Battle Royal(featuring Lawrence Taylor, Bam Bam Bigelow, Lex Luger, Steve
Mcmichael and
others. This would have been a much better idea than a one on one match
since battle royals tend to be entertaining and it could have been a second
annual WWF/NFL Battle Royal. Plus Bigelow wouldn't lose the credibilty he
lost when he was pinned by Taylor, if he just got eliminated over the top
rope by him! I'd have Bigelow & Taylor the last two in the ring with LT
coming out on top) Undertaker vs The Entire Million $ Corporation(Ending
this stupid feud once and for all! Taker would win of course and Bam Bam
wouldn't be involved in
the match since i'd put him in the WWF/NFL Battle Royal). Owen Hart vs Davey
Boy Smith(they'd been involved in a family feud since Summerslam 94 and
everyone knows this match would have been a classic!).

Wrestlemania X:"Ten Years In The Making"

Card=Owen Hart beat Bret Hart in perhaps the greatest opening match in
Wrestling history, let alone Wrestlemania history! 10/10. Earthquake beat
Adam Bomb in a pointless match that lasted less than a minute 0/10. (Mixed
Tag Match)Bam Bam/Luna beat Doink/Dink in
a match that wasn't quite as bad as it should have been but it still was in
no way good! 2.5/10-Bam Bam did most of the work here. (Falls Count Anywhere
Match)Randy Savage
beat Crush in an average bout 4/10. (I-C Title)Razor Ramon beat Shawn
Michaels in a classic ladder match that has stood the test of time in
todays day and age of TLC matches 10/10 (WWF Tag Titles)M-O-M beat
Quebecers by countout in a shockingly OK match where the crowd and
Quebecers obviously carried it but i'll admit that Mo from M-O-M actually
looked half decent here. Mable sucked as usual, hitting the worst spinning
wheel kick i've ever seen! 4.5/10.(Womens Title)Alundra Blayze beat Lelani
Kai in a poor match, only worth seeing for the talented Blayze 1.5/10. (WWF
Title:Match 1)Yokozuna beat Lex Luger by DQ in a match riddled with
crowd killing moments including, former Boyband star Donnie Whalberg(NKOTB
anyone?) on
intro duties, Yoko applying boring rest holds for what seemed like forever
and a DQ ending that had the crowd loudly chanting BULLSHIT! 2/10 (WWF
Title:Match 2)Bret Hart beat Yokozuna in a poor Wrestlemania main event
that was at least better than their match last year(i:e it wasn't quite the
snorefest, nor did it feature Hulk Hogan stealing everyones heat at the
end!) 4/10-great ending though with Bret celebrating with all the faces
while jealous Owen just stared. (By the way, the 10 man tag match featuring
Tatanka/Smoking
Gunns/1-2-3 Kid & Bob Holly vs Jeff Jarrett/Headshrinkers/I.R.S & Rick
Martel, was cancelled for time reasons. It makes you wish they'd cancelled
the Womens Title or the pointless Quake/Bomb matches instead!)

Overall=Well, this was a big disappointment for the tenth anniversary
edition of Wrestlemania since it had a cluster of average matches, bad
booking leading to a match cancellation, several crowd killing
moments and a forgettable main event. However, theres no denying that the
opening match and the ladder match between will go down in the annuals as
two of the greatest Wrestlemania matches of alltime and it's thanks to them
that this
show gets 6/10-not the greatest score in the world but a damn lot better
than the debacle that was Wrestlemania IX! Best Match=A tie between
Bret/Owen & Razor/HBK. Worst Match=Earthquake/Bomb.

My WM-X Card=[WWF Title:Match 1]Yokozuna vs Lex Luger(Lex wins! I'd keep it
short too!) [WWF Title:Match 2]Lex Luger vs Bret Hart(Bret wins-Luger may
have been a
poor worker but in the past guys like Ric Flair, Sting, The Steiners and
even Danny Spivey proved Luger was carryable to a good match and against
someone as
great as Bret, Luger could have been carried to the best match of his
career!). [I-C Title/Ladder Match]Razor vs HBK. [WWF Tag Titles]Quebecer's
vs Steiners(why oh why did the Steiners get
demoted in 1994! These two teams had some good TV matches in 1993 and what
had M-O-M done to deserve a title shot?). (Womens Title)Alundra vs Luna(i'm
sure Alundra could have carried Luna to a watchable match). (Brother vs
Brother)Bret vs Owen. Bigelow vs Tatanka(they were still in a
fun on-off feud and i'd rather have seen them go at it again, than the
mixed tag match!). Savage vs Jarrett(could have been
a great match and a much needed boost for Jarrett's credentials). Diesel vs
1-2-3 Kid(could have been a
good old fashioned David vs
Goliath match and the sleeper hit of the night since Kliq members usually
had great matches with each other).
Marty Jannetty vs Rick Martel(another possible sleeper hit of the night
with two underrated veterans). Legends Battle Royal(Backlund wins, since he
was to get a little push in 1994)

Wrestlemania VI:"The Ultimate Challenge"

Wrestlemania VI:"The Ultimate Challenge"

Card=Rick Martel beat Koko B Ware in a painfully short, waste of space!
0/10-why this match was even on the card, let alone the opener is a mystery
to wrestling fans the world over! Rick Martel was on an impressive winning
streak and his feud with former partner Tito Santana had reached it's one
year anniversary so why on earth wasn't it Martel vs Santana at
Wrestlemania VI? That could have been a classic match, not to mention an
excellent way to start the show but no, we got a 2-3 minute, nothing match!
Brutus Beefcake beat Mr Perfect in a watchable match, that was
obviously carried all the way by Perfect, with the crowds cheers for
Beefcake significantly helping matters 4.5/10. Roddy Piper & Bad News Brown
went to a no contest in a terrible brawl, which is only memorable for Hot
Rod wrestling the match while painted 50% Black 0.5/10. Ted Dibiase beat
Jake Roberts by countout in a good but disappointing match that was
undoubtably
let down by the weak ending. Plus the fact the crowd were more interested in
performing a "canadian wave" than the match didn't do it any favours. Still
a good, solid match though 7/10. Orient Express beat Rockers by countout in
a surprisingly disappointing match. 4/10-thankfully these two teams would
renew their feud in 1991 and produce several classic matches together.
Earthquake beat Hercules in a predictable, power match 2/10. Hart
Foundation beat Boshovieks in a supershort, LOD-style squash 1/10-at least
they spared us! The Barbarian beat Tito Santana in a passable match,
obviously carried by Tito who sold Barbarians finishing flying clothesline
in brilliantly OTT fashion 3/10. Rick Rude beat Jimmy Snuka in a
short but watchable match 2.5/10, Big Bossman beat Akeem in a predictable
"ex-partners" match 1.5/10. Hacksaw Jim Duggan beat Dino Bravo in a very
poor
match 0.5/10-great to see Quake squash Duggan after the match! (Mixed Tag
Match)Dusty Rhodes/Sapphire beat Randy Savage/Sherri in a passable
"entertainment match" 2.5/10-poor Randy! (WWF Tag Titles)Demolition beat
Colossal Connection in a match made watchable thanks to the crowd 3/10. (WWF
TitlevsI-C Title)The Ultimate Warrior beat Hulk Hogan in a shockingly
classic
encounter! 9/10-the crowd definetly made this match seem a whole lot better
than it should have been, but Hulk and Warrior both deserve credit too,
playing their parts perfectly and the way the match was so carefully staged
is another reason it's still thought of today as one of Wrestlemania's
greatest matches.

Overall=I've found this to be one of the more overrated Wrestlemania's as
years have gone by because apart from the must see Hogan/Warrior spectacle,
theres nothing else on the card that is worth mentioning apart from the
good but still lacklustre Dibiase/Roberts match. 5.5/10-All in all the crowd
was well into most of the matches and made some of the weaker matches
watchable. Best Match=Hogan/Warrior. Worst
Match=A tie between Martel/Koko & Piper/Brown.

My WM-VI Card=[WWF TitlevsI-C Title]Hogan vs Warrior, [WWF Tag
Titles]Demolition vs Twin Towers vs Hart Foundation(the addition of Bret &
Jim could have helped the match!), Dibiase vs Jake, Martel vs Tito, Rockers
vs Orient Express(longer with a better ending!), Earthquake vs Snuka(would
have given Quake more clout going into his feud with Hogan by beating a
legend like Snuka, plus the match might have been better than
Quake/Hercules) [Cage Match]Rude vs Piper(they had a fun feud which
produced a great cage match! Rude could have won and that
way would have looked a more legit threat to Warrior at Summerslam 90 in
their cage match), Savage vs Dusty(might have been better than the
mixed tag match!), Perfect vs Beefcake(I'd have kept Hennig's "Perfect
Record" alive though!).

Reader Review:Wrestlemania III:"Bigger, Better, Badder"

Wrestlemania III:"Bigger, Better, Badder"

Card=The Can-Am Connection vs Don Muraco & Bob Orton is a very good opening
tag
team contest with some wonderful wrestling from both teams and a fired up
crowd eating up every moment of it-7.5/10. The Can-Am Connection were
comprised of future WWF "Model" Rick Martel(representing Canada) and future
NWA/WCW "Z-MAN" Tom Zenk(representing America) and they were a sort of
prototype "Strike Force" which was formed later that year with Can Am member
Martel and former I-C Champion Tito Santana. Harley Race beat JYD in a poor
but surprisingly watchable match where the crowd obviously played a part.
Harley may have been a shell of his former self in 1987 but he still
managed to carry this match 2/10. Dream Team beat Rougeau
Brothers in a short but solid match 5/10. Honky Tonk Man beat Jake
Roberts(with Alice Cooper in his corner), in a solid enough match 4.5/10.
The Hart
Foundation & Danny Davis beat Tito Santana & The British Bulldogs in a good
tag team contest let down by Mary Hart on commentary(Didn't Vince learn
from Wrestlemania 2!) 7/10-theres an awesome
tombstone by Davey Boy to Danny to behold here! Hercules & Billy Jack
Haynes went to a double countout in a boring but watchable match
3/10-Haynes looks like "DR Death" Steve Williams younger twin! Nikolai
Volkoff & Iron Shiek beat Killer Bee's by DQ in an ok match when Jim Duggan
interfered 5/10. Butch Reed beat Koko B'Ware in a poor contest 2/10.
Hillbilly Jim, Little Beaver & Haiti Kid beat King Kong Bundy, Lord
Littlebrook & Little Tokyo by DQ in a mixed heavyweights/midgets tag match
that was only made barable by the crowd. Bundy got DQ'd when he demolished
Haiti Kid with an elbow drop! 1.5/10.(Hair vs Hair Match)Roddy Piper beat
Adrian Adonis in a match that would have stunk if the crowd wasn't so HOT!
2.5/10-Beefcake gave his first WWF Haircut after the match to Adonis.(I-C
Title)Ricky Steamboat
beat Randy Savage in an awesome match that i still think is abit overrated
today. The match had a few dull moments of stalling but when Savage &
Steamboat went at it in the ring at lightning speed and traded near fall
after near fall to the crowds deafening eruptions, any wrestling fan whose
witnessed this match can't help but watch in awe 9.5/10. (WWF Title)Hulk
Hogan vs Andre The Giant. Of all the main events in Wrestlemania history,
this has to be one of the top 3 best booked, most hyped and anticipated of
them all. The match itself was by no means good in
a wrestling sense, plus it had a painfully boring section where Andre
locked Hogan in a bearhug but the crowd really made this match the
spectacle it was and the moment Hogan slammed Andre is one of the most
memorable moments, not only in Wrestlemania history, but in Wrestling
history period! 6.5/10-Not the best match of alltime but still not as bad
as it should have been either and the crowd really made it watchable
throughout.

Overall=A big improvement on the previous year and to be honest, this
Wrestlemania has stood the test of time as being one of the better
ones-nowhere near the best but still a solid PPV with some great tag team
matches(Can-Am/Muraco/Orton, Harts/Davis/Bulldogs/Santana), a classic I-C
Title match and a spectacular main
event secure Wrestlemania III a "top 10 Wrestlemania's" spot for certain.
It's one of those events where even the poorest matches of the night were
watchable thanks to a fired up crowd who created one hell of an atmosphere
7/10. Best match=Savage/Steamboat. Worst Match=Heavyweights/Midgets Six Man
Tag.

My WM-III Card=[WWF Title]Hogan vs Andre, [I-C Title]Savage vs Steamboat,
[WWF Tag Team Titles]Bulldogs vs Hart
Foundation(although the six man they competed in was fine, i'd rather have
seen these two teams in a title match at Wrestlemania). Jake vs
Honky Tonk. Dream Team vs Rougeau's(Longer!). Santana vs Danny Davis. Bee's
vs Shiek/Volkoff-most of Wrestlemania 3's card was fine TBH

email what you thought to the reviewer: theantichrist4@activemail.co.uk

Reader Review: Wrestlemana 2

Wrestlemania 2:"What The World Has Come To"
(send a reply about this to the reviewer: theantichrist4@activemail.co.uk )

Card=Paul Orndorff & Don Muraco fought to a double countout in a match
that was actually quite good until the pathetic, throwaway ending. 4/10-A
potential show stealer ruined! What a terrible way to start the show! Jake
Roberts beat George Wells in a poor match 2/10. The Funks beat JYD & Tito
Santana in a terrible tag team match 1.5/10. Ricky
Steamboat beat Hercules in an average match, unsurprisingly carried by
Steamboat 4/10. Adrian Adonis beat Uncle Elmer in one of the worst matches
i've ever endured. 0.5/10(Adonis at least tried to get the crowd into this
one by bumping around the ring abit but Elmer was simply uncarryable!).
Andre The Giant won an entertaining battle royal that featured WWF stars
including
The Hart Foundation and Big John Studd as well as NFL stars including
William Perry and Bill Fralic 6/10. (Flag Match)Corporal Kirschner beat
Nikolai Volkoff in a match that redefines the term atrocious! 1/10 (I-C
Title)Randy Savage beat George Steele in a poor bout, that even the great
Macho Man couldn't save 3/10. (Boxing Match)Mr T beat Roddy Piper by
DQ in a horrible gimmick match. 1/10 (Womens Title)Moolah beat Velvet
Mcentyre in a dire, waste of a match, where the talented Velvet should have
won and saved the title! 0/10 (WWF Tag Titles)British Bulldogs beat Dream
Team in an excellent match and for the second year running the tag title
match has
stolen the show at Wrestlemania. 9/10-Even Beefcake looked decent here(or
that could just be the Bulldog's selling LOL). (WWF Title/Cage Match)Hulk
Hogan beat king Kong Bundy in a surprisingly decent cage match. Fair
enough, it's proberbly one of the least memorable Wrestlemania
main events but it's a pretty solid affair and had this match been a
regular singles match, i'm sure it would have been one of the worst
Wrestlemania main events of alltime. 6/10

Overall=Oh dear, this is a very strong contender for worst Wrestlemania of
alltime with so many terrible matches. Still, i think that, as bad as this
PPV is on a whole, it does warrant a watch for the must see Bulldogs/Dream
Team match. As for the concept of hosting the show from three different
cities, i thought it was a rather novel idea and i think it would work much
better today than it did back in 1986. Just imagine a Wrestlemania, held
from three different cities, one city would host the Raw matches, one city
would host the Smackdown matches and the third city would host the
inter-promotional matches. Anyway overall this was a piss-poor show, apart
from the decent main event, the fun battle royal and the classic tag team
title match. Vince also made a big mistake by hiring celebrities including
Elvira, Cathy Lee Crosby and Susan ST James to do commentary! 2/10. Best
Match=Bulldogs/Dream Team. Worst Match=A tie
between Elmer/Adonis & Moolah/Velvet

My WM-2 Card=[WWF Title]Hulk Hogan vs Roddy Piper(They should
have kept the Piper/Hogan feud going and not built a Piper/Mr T boxing
program! Mr T was fine as Hulk's tag partner last year as he had crowd
reactions, not to mention other wrestlers to carry him through but to stick
him in a boxing match with the company's top heel at the time was damaging
to all involved). [I-C Title]Randy Savage vs Tito Santana(i'd have saved
the match where Savage beat Tito for Wrestlemania). [WWF Tag Titles]Dream
Team vs British Bulldogs(match was fine as it was). NFL/WWF Battle
Royal(match was fine as it was). Paul Orndorff vs Don Muraco(i'd have just
given them alot longer and a better finish!). Ricky Steamboat vs Jake
Roberts(these two were feuding and should have faced off here!). Hart
Foundation vs Killer Bee's(i'd have taken both teams out of the battle royal
and put them against each other cause these two teams actualy had several
outstanding
bouts together in the 80's-check out the Bret Hart DVD for an excellent
Harts/Bee's match).

PPV Review Wrestlemania 1

From : Reader The Antichrist <theantichrist4@activemail.co.uk>

Wrestlemania I:"Beginning A Tradition Of Excitment & Glamour

Card=Tito Santana beat The Executioner in a pretty average match but the
crowd was well into it. Perhaps it would have been better if The
Executioner was not the overweight grappler Buddy Rose! Santana and the
crowd carried this one to "watchable" status. 4.5/10-Average-ish match to
start the show. King Kong Bundy beat Special Delivery Jones in an abysmal
squash
that Gorilla and Jesse claimed lasted 9 seconds when it clearly lasted alot
longer! Something like 20 seconds longer-1/10(that 1 point is for the
hilarious OTT interview SD Jones gives before the match LOL). Ricky
Steamboat beat Matt Bourne in a decent match that would have been a better
choice to open the show than the earlier Tito/Executioner match-6/10.
Brutus Beefcake and David
Sammartino fought to a double countout, in an acceptable bout that had some
good mat wrestling moments from Bruno's son David but the match eventually
started to drag and was
proberbly abit overlong too-4/10 (Body Slam Match)Andre The Giant beat Big
John Studd and the match was as poor as expected-1/10 (I-C Title Match)Greg
Valentine beat Junkyard Dog in a disgrace to the I-C Titles history
2/10-Valentine obviously deserved a better opponant and one can only wish
that Vince had
put him against Steamboat or Santana here-two men Valentine had some
classic I-C Title matches with! (Womens Title Match)Wendi Richter beat
Lelani Kai in a very poor encounter-2/10. The match featured quirky popstar
Cyndi
Lauper in Wendi's corner and the "ancient even then" Fabulous Moolah in
Lelani's corner. (WWF Tag Team Title Match)The Iron Sheik & Nokolai Volkoff
beat Barry Windham & Mike Rotundo in the show stealer of the night.
7.5/10-A solid tag team match with great crowd responses
throughout. Hulk Hogan & Mr T beat Roddy Piper & Paul Orndorff and
surprisingly
this was not a bad match at all. Everyone involved did a great job here and
Mr T was proberbly the best "celebrity/wrestler" experiment ever. 7/10-Not
a great wrestlng match but a very entertaining tag team bout with plenty of
crowd pleasing moments.

Overall=5/10-Ok it wasn't the "greatest wrestling extravaganza of alltime"
but back in the mid 80's it proberbly seemed like it was to the folks who
watched it. No "must see" matches but quite a few solid
bouts(Rotundo/Windham/Shiek/Volkoff, Hogan/T/Piper/Orndorff,
Steamboat/Bourne) and a few clunkers(Bundy/Jones, Richter/Kai), but even
they don't feel out of place here since this was 1985 after all! Best
Match=Rotundo/Windham vs Volkoff/Shiek.
Worst Match=Bundy/Jones.

My WM-I card=(WWF Title/Cage Match)Hogan(with Mr T & Sunka in his corner)
vs Orndorff(with Piper & Orton in his corner).(Hogan and Orndorff had a
great feud in the mid 80's that actually produced some quality matches,
most notably a cage match which ranks as one of the best of Hogans career.
It would have been a perfect Wrestlemania main event!) [I-C
Title/Submission Match]Valentine vs Santana(figure 4 vs figure 4!)
(WWF Tag Titles)Rotundo & Windham vs Shiek & Volkoff(match was fine as it
was). (Womens Title) Wendi Richter vs Lelani Kai(let them actually wrestle
though!). Ricky Steamboat vs Matt Bourne(match was fine, but have it as the
opener instead!). Roddy Piper & Bob Orton vs Jimmy Sunka & Mr T. A 20 man
battle royal featuring Andre, Studd, Bundy and others(Andre would obviously
win). Hart Foundation vs British Bulldogs(number 1 contenders
match-Potential classic!).

The 2006 Royal Rumble Review

The 2006 Royal Rumble is here!
A review by reader the antichrist email him at theantichrist4@activemail.co.uk

usual promo video plays and it's time for the 19th annual Royal
Rumble(i wonder if the WWE are going to do anything special next year for
the 20th annual show? How about giving all the past Rumble winners free
spots in the 2007 Rumble match-well those who are still alive that is. i:e
not Yokozuna or Big John Studd).

Michael Cole and Tazz welcome us to the show, they pass it on to Joey
Styles and Jerry Lawler who pass it on to the Spanish anounce team as we
get set for the opening contest which is a six way, texas tornado style,
cruiserweight invitational in which only previous cruiserweight champions
are permitted to take part.

Kid Kash vs Funaki vs Jamie Noble vs Nunzio vs Paul London vs Gregory
Helms-The former Hurricane is the mystery participant in this match despite
being a Raw superstar. This is a great way to start the show and all six
men are on top form(particularly Paul London and Jamie Noble). This match
is almost what the "Cruiserweight Open" at Wrestlemania XX should have been
like! Paul London is easily the "man of the match" here, taking plenty of
sick bumps and hitting high spot after high spot including a sweet looking
dropkick/moonsault combination and an awesome shooting star press to his
five opponants on the outside. Gregory Helms manages to steal the win after
hitting Funaki with a shining wizard. 7/10-an exciting opening contest that
the crowd were well into but still WAY too short at around 8 minutes!

Vince Mcmahon is backstage at the "Rumble number drawings" with Torrie,
Candice and Victoria who Vince is predictably eyeing them up. I like how
the WWE is starting to bring back the backstage number drawrings at the
Rumble as it reminds us of the "good old days". Vince calls Randy Orton and
Triple H into the room to draw their numbers. Orton draws and is happy with
his number while Triple H engages in some great comic banter with the
ladies before picking his number and looking shocked and frustrated. Trish
is backstage getting ready to referee the match between Mickie James and
Ashley. Mickey tells Trish "she loves her" and it's time for the match in
question.

Mickey James vs Ashley-I wasn't expecting much from this match and it
sucked more than i thought it would! The crowd was chanting "boring" almost
immediately after the bell rang and the early part of the match was just
Mickey stalling away from Ashley. Later in the match, things got a little
stiff as Mickey James took control but the crowd were still snoring! Ashley
eventually mounted a comeback but she is still as green as grass and boy
was this match a showcase of that! As far as i'm aware Ashley was the face
going into the match but she acted like a heel throughout while Mickey
James was trying to act the heel but the crowd started booing Ashley's
tactics as the match progressed. Mickey James won with a powerbomb and we
have an obvious Wrestlemania XXII match set with Mickey James vs Trish
Stratuss. Did i mention that the match sucked? It gets 3/10 and those 3
points are NOT for anything that happened in the match! 3 hot chicks=3
points.

Vince is backstage again with the Divas and is "examining" their tatoo's.
Quite funny stuff actually with Vince saying Victoria's "lower back" tatoo
"has a crack in it"! The Big Show comes in to draw his number and asks
Vince if he wants to see his tatoo's. Vince doesn't and nor do we! I think
we saw more than enough of the Big Show at Wrestlemania 21 in that horrible
but hilarious Sumo match! The Big Show's hand doesn't fit into the number
box so he asks Candice to draw from him and he doesn't look happy or angry
with his number, so we assume he's got a middle number of something. Rey
Mysterio comes in and the fans heavily chant for the late but forever great
Eddie Guerrero. Rey doesn't look happy with his number but takes it as a
"spiritual prank" from Eddie.

John Bradshaw Layfields music hits and it's time for the next match.

John Bradshaw Layfield vs The Boogeyman-J.B.L doesn't come out in his limo
and is looking very nervous while he walks to the ring with Jillian. The
Boogeyman comes out looking like a cross between Darth Maul and Papa
Shango, with worms predictably dripping from his mouth. Before the match
starts, J.B.L bails to the outside while Jillian gets a mouthful of worms
courtesy of the Boogeyman. J.B.L then takes his opportunity to jump
Boogeyman from behind and the match is underway. J.B.L's moveset for the
entire match consists of punches, clubs and a chokehold while Boogeymans
consists of a terrible looking uppercut, a kick to the mid section and a
pump handle powerslam. You should have an idea of how short this match is
then. 2/10-very poor match that felt pointless! Hopefully this is a sign
that J.B.L is headed back down the card where he belongs, however i am
dreading the thought that the Boogeyman might be getting a push, having
just beat a former WWE Champion in less than 3 minutes! Oh well at least
they kept it short eh?

Backstage Shelton Benjamin's mother is coming onto Vince Mcmahon, before
Shelton himself enters the room to draw his number. Shelton looks happy and
promises he will eliminate Shawn Michaels. Melina comes in and wishes
Shelton luck as Shelton's mother drags him away by the ear before Shelton
can get Melina's number. MNM come in and draw their numbers, not looking
particularly bothered with them before Melina also promises Vince that her
boys will do their best to eliminate Shawn from the match. Vince then gets
comfy on the couch with the divas to watch the Royal Rumble match! Huh?
Michael Cole and Jerry Lawler are commentating together! Huh?? The Royal
Rumble match is next! Huh??? Thats unexpected to say the least! I guess
Vince thinks a World Title match featuring Mark Henry is more important
than the 30 man Rumble match! We are then shown a video promo highlighting
all the feuding superstars(RVD/Carlito, HHH/Big Show, Orton/Benoit) in the
Rumble match while also acknowledging those who are not in feuds(Rey
Mysterio, Chris Masters, Matt Hardy, Bobby Lashley) who have vowed to win
the Rumble match. Hmmm this is without a doubt an unpredictable Royal
Rumble match for a change! The favourites appear to be Shawn Michaels,
Randy Orton, Triple H and Rob Van Dam but could guys like Rey Mysterio and
Chris Benoit surprise us tonight? Here we go!

Before the match "the spirit squad" hits the ring and performs some little
sing and dance routine then leave! What was the point of that? Anyway
Lillian introduces Number 1 and its.......Triple H! Woah! Heres a bit of
trivia for you. exactly 10 years ago at the 1996 Royal Rumble, Triple
H(then only known as Hunter Hearst Helmsely and looking about 50 pounds
lighter!) entered the match at Number 1 and lasted almost one hour before
being eliminated by his Kliq pal Kevin Nash who was of course wrestling as
Deisel! Number 2 is.......Rey Mysterio! What a way to start the match with
two superstars with such contrasting sizes and styles, who have never met
in the ring before. Rey comes out in a lowrider and points up, as if to
acknowledge Eddie looking down on him while Triple H plays the heel,
telling Rey that Eddie can't help him tonight. The crowd is heavily
chanting "Eddie" as the 2006 Royal Rumble match gets underway. Rey and
Hunter go back and fourth until the timer begins to tick down-That was
quick! every 90 seconds my ass! Number 3 is.....Simon Dean-a very
underrated talent who has been completely wasted during his WWE career.
Simon goes right for Rey while trying to makes friends with Hunter who is
having none of it and proceeds to level Simon with a right hand, before
both he and Rey eliminate the fitness guru from the match. Rey and Hunter
then get back to tearing each other apart until Number 4 is revealed
as......Psichosis-a man Rey Mysterio has had some awesome battles with in
both ECW and WCW. Psichosis takes out Hunter with a spin kick then turns
his attention to Rey. However his assault on Mysterio is shortlived as Rey
reverses a cross powerbomb attempt into a hurricanrana which sends the
Mexicool over the top rope! The clock ticks down again as we learn the man
who drew Number 5 is.......Ric Flair-The I-C champion(unfortunately!) comes
down to a great crowd response as he and Hunter lock eyes and soon horns as
Ric lays into him with chops. Ric eventually gets eliminated via a backdrop
from Triple H and that was surprising to say the least! The crowd hate the
fact Flair is gone but soon turn their attention to the entrance way
because Number 6 is about to be revealed and its none other than.....The
Big Show! He gets a decent pop and has a big smile on his face as he sees
Hunter lying on the canvass looking like he's crapping himself! Big Show
takes out Hunter with a headbutt and kicks and chops away at him in the
turnbuckle until he turns his attention to Mysterio, whom he headbutts too.
Number 7 is........The Coach, who takes his time coming to the ring but
then makes the mistake of attacking Big Show who soon sends him over the
top rope and back to the locker room! Big Show then presses Hunter over his
head but doesn't bother t simply toss him out! Dumbass! Number 8
is......Bobby Lashley-The former amateur Champion who has been impressive
since his debut in late 2005 despite still being abit green in that ring.
Lashley looks ripped by the way and he stares down Big Show before they get
it on. Lashley displays his awesome power backdropping Big Show at
lightning speed. Lashley then takes out Rey and Triple H before Number 9 is
revealed as.....Kane! Lashley and Kane go toe to toe before Lashley hits a
huge belly to belly on him. Lashley then goes on a "power trip" so to speak
as he presses Hunter over his head then gives Kane a high impact dominator!
Number 10 is.....Sylvain Grenier-why is he even in this match? He's doing
nothing on Smackdown and his former partners Rene Dupree and Rob Conway are
WAY more talented and deserving! Sylvain becomes more fodder for Lashley
who eliminates him with force!

The World Tag Team Champions, Kane and The Big Show are back up and give
Lashley a double chokeslam before sending the young powerhouse over the top
rope. Kane and The Big Show then turn on each other as both Rey and Hunter
are still down. They eventually end up choking each other, trying to send
one another over the top rope and predictably Triple H comes out of nowhere
and dumps both of them, the same way Shawn Michaels so unpredictably did 10
years earlier at the 1996 Royal Rumble to Vader and the late Yokozuna. We
are back down to Triple H and Rey Mysterio as Number 11 is revealed
as.....Carlito Caribbean Cool-a man who may be limited in terms of
wrestling ability, but plays his character to perfection both in and out of
the ring. Carlito had a great 2005 capturing the I-C title and hanging with
main eventers, while in 2006 he partly headlined the "New Years Revolution"
PPV and was the last man, then WWE Champion John Cena in the elimination
chamber match. Carlito goes after both Hunter and Rey, hitting his vicious
modified back breaker to the latter. Number 12 is......Chris Benoit who
gets a great pop from the crowd and goes right after everyone including his
friend Rey Mysterio, whom he hits a wicked looking german suplex on. Benoit
hits his flying headbutt on Hunter as number 13 is revealed as.....Booker
T-The U.S Champion, who is accompanied by Sharmell and sporting long tights
for the first time since his WCW days with Harlem Heat!(This is proberbly
due to his groin injury). Booker predictably goes for Benoit and
predictably gets eliminated very quickly! What was the point of that?
Booker is obviously too injured to compete and his Rumble position could
have surely gone to someone else on the Smackdown roster like William Regal
who could have had a better run in the match. The crowd boo's when Booker
is eliminated either because they love the guy and want him back to his
much better babyface persona or because like me they feel cheated out of a
Rumble participant! Number 14 is......Joey Mercury-one half of the tag team
champions and one half of proberbly the only good tag team in the WWE
today! Mercury goes after Carlito, then knocks Hunter down with a big right
hand. Number 15 is......TATANKA! Woah! I couldn't believe it when i heard
that chant at the intro of his theme music being played! A surprise Raw
entrant and another Superstar who competed 10 years earlier in the 1996
Royal Rumble. Tatanka looks pretty much the same as he did back then except
he's abit heavier these days. Tatanka may have had a lame gimmick but he
was always a solid in ring performer(if overpushed at times! Remember King
Of The Ring 1995 anyone?). Tatanka goes right after everyone while the
crowd imitates his native American chanting. Number 16 is......Johnny
Nitro, who obviously teams up with his MNM partner Joey Mercury in
attacking everyone. The men who drew numbers 1 and 2 are still in the
match! Rey Mysterio almost gets eliminated by Carlito while Hunter spends
most of the time in the turnbuckle. Number 17 is.......Trevor Murdoch! Why
oh why is this "worst wrestler of the year" candidate in the Royal Rumble?
Hell, i cant stand his former partner Garrison Cade, but i'd rather have
him in this thing than Murdoch! Number 18 is.......Eugene? I thought he got
suspended indefinetly! Oh well, the WWE needed Rumble participants i guess!
Anyway Eugene is back and this is another reason William Regal should have
been in this match as the heel Regal could have had a little confrontation
with his former babyface partner. Eugene points his "Hogan finger" at
Murdoch and lays into him before Rey takes both of them down with a
bulldog. Number 19 is....Animal who goes after MNM-the men who sickeningly
mocked his deceased partner Hawk in one of 2005's many lows!

Number 20 is......ROB VAN DAM! The crowd goes wild and gives the self
proclaimed "Whole Fuckin' Show" the biggest pop of the night so far! RVD
lays into everyone with his martial arts skills as the fans heavily chant
"RVD", "RVD", "RVD"! If RVD won this thing i wouldn't be shocked! The guy
may lack mic skills but he has the look, the abilty and most of all the fan
support to be taken seriously as a main eventer for the company! Rob Van
Dam soon eliminates Animal from the match and that must be the first
elimination in about half an hour! The ring is full of superstars, both
spent and fresh as Number 21 enters as.....Orlando Jordan-The crowd is
silent, like they are for all of Jordan's matches! The crowd soon breaks
out into another "RVD" chant and i hope Vince is hearing them loud and
clear! After 5 years of pointless feuds and being held back i think it's
about time the WWE gives RVD the break he deserves and a Royal Rumble win
would be a great way to do just that! Anyway back to the Rumble, Eugene
shows us he's still a retard by shaking Triple H's hand who proceeds to
give him a low blow! RVD dumps Carlito who JUST manages to hang on with one
arm! Phew! That was REALLY close! Number 22 is.....Kerwin White! Oh no it's
not! It's Chavo Guerrero! The same Chavo Guerrero who should have stayed
Chavo Guerrero all along and not been disgraced with that AWFUL Kerwin
White gimmick by the brainless WWE writers some months back! Chavo hits the
ring to a chorus of "Eddie" chants as the third generation Superstar goes
after everyone including uncle Eddie's pal Rey Mysterio, who Chavo hits a
wicked alley-oop like bomb on. Chavo then hits the Three Amigo's on one of
MNM and goes upstairs for the frog splash but Hunter shoves him off and
thats the end of Chavo's Rumble time! Rey and Benoit then tear into the
"heartless heel" Triple H for shoving Chavo off as Number 23 is revealed
as......Matt Hardy-a man who had a whirlwind 2005 to say the least! Hardy
gets a decent pop and hits pair of side effects on MNM. The WWE Tag Team
Champs soon recover though and eliminate Tatanka from the match. Number 24
is Super Crazy who goes straight from MNM with a high flying move. Number
25 is......Shawn Michaels-the man who won the Royal Rumble 10 years earlier
at the 96 Rumble(also 11 years earlier at the 95 Rumble) and the last man
Vince Mcmahon wants to win the Rumble match! HBK attacks everything that
moves and eliminates Trevor Murdoch. Number 26 is already out?(these Rumble
entrants are no way every 90 seconds!) and it's....Chris Masters who goes
after Benoit. Matt Hardy ALMOST eliminates Hunter for about the tenth time!
Number 27 is Viscera-another man who participated in the 96 Rumble a decade
earlier as Mabel. Matt Hardy tries the twist of fate on Big Bis but gets
eliminated by the worlds largest love machine! Number 28 is...Shelton
Benjamin who comes out with Momma and goes right for his former I-C Title
rival Carlito. Benoit eliminates Eugene! Number 29 is.....Goldust! Woah!
Another surprise entrant! Hmmm i wonder if Dusty Rhodes has anything to do
with this? Goldust won the I-C Ttle a decade earlier at the 96 Rumble, now
he looks to win the Rumble match itself, but we all know he's got no
chance! Number 30 is of course Randy Orton who quickly eliminates Benoit
and RKO's Viscera. Carlito and Masters capitalise on the RKO and dump
Viscera but as Masters celebrates Carlito dumps him! Goldust gives the
cocky latino the shattered dreams then gets eliminated by RVD's martial
arts! Orton eliminates Orlando. MNM double up on HBK but Shawn counters the
snapshot and Mercury eliminates Nitro by accident before HBK eliminates
Mercury himself. Shelton kicks HBK and tries to eliminate him but Shawn
counters again and hits the Super Kick and Shelton is gone! HBK is on fire!

Vince Mcmahon's music hits and the moment we've all predicted has come!
Vince is here to screw HBK but Shawn is not going to back down from Vince!
However Shane Mcmahon runs in and eliminates HBK from the match! Shawn cant
believe it and goes after Shane but Hunter grabs him and sets up for the
pedigree but HBK blocks and hits the Sweet Chin Music before chasing Shane
back to the locker room. This sets up Shawn vs Shane at Wrestlemania XXII
which i must say sounds alot more promising than the expected Shawn vs
Vince match! Meanwhile back in the ring RVD eliminates Carlito and we are
down to the final 4! It's Triple H, Rob Van Dam, Rey Mysterio and Randy
Orton! It's the second time both Rey and Hunter have been in "final four"
situations at the Rumble PPV and it's only the second time in Rumble
history that the men who drew numbers 1 and 2 have made it to the final
four! Former tag team partners RVD and Rey Mysterio form an alliance while
former Evolution members Hunter and Orton are forced into a similar
situation. Triple H is bleeding from the mouth as the crowd chants for RVD
again! RVD and Rey double team Orton and Hunter but their luck soon runs
out when RVD is caught by Hunter while attempting the frog splash. Triple H
then catches Rey attempting a high flying move and sends him into RVD and
the crowd hates it as Rob Van Dam's Royal Rumble return has come to an end.
Hunter and Orton look to double team Rey as the crowd begins "Eddie" chants
again. Rey fights both men with all he's got and hits a double 6:19 on
them. Hunter soon stops Rey in his tracks though with a clothesline and
then starts attacking Orton who hits a powerslam on The Game and goes for
the RKO which is countered into a spinebuster from Hunter. Triple H the
attempts to spinebuster Rey but to the shock of everyone Rey counters and
eliminates The Game from the match! It's down to Orton and Mysterio! Triple
H is irate and he attacks Rey and sends him into the steps! Orton is happy
that Rey is easy pickings now. The crowd chants "Eddie" as Orton scoops up
Rey to eliminate him but Mysterio holds onto the ropes to block, then all
of a sudden flips around and locks in a head scissors and eliminates Randy
Orton! WOW! I was in shock when this happened cause i never thought in a
million years that Rey Mysterio would win a Royal Rumble let alone head to
a main event at Wrestlemania! All i can say is i'm glad that someone who
actually deserves to win has won! Randy Orton has improved since 2004 but i
still don't think he's paid his dues or deserving of the main event yet.
Rey Mysterio has worked his ass off for nearly 20 years, overcoming so many
obstacles in his career and although i'd have preferred Rob Van Dam to win
the Rumble match, i'm happy Rey Mysterio has done it and this has to be one
of the most shocking wins in WWE history! I give the 2006 Rumble match
6.5/10-Some great moments, plenty of surprises(Tatanka, Goldust, Eugene
etc) and a totally unexpected ending let down by some pointless
entrants(Booker T, The Coach, Sylvain etc) and a rushed feeling. This was
not the best Rumble match ever but it was far from the worst and definetly
miles better than last years snorefest! Now the question is who will Rey
Rey face at Wrestlemania? Rey vs Angle would rock but we have seen it
before! Rey vs Edge could be great too but we will just have to see if Edge
remains Champion tonight first! Hmmm is it just me or does anyone feel that
we might see a Triple H/Rey Mysterio match at Wrestlemania? After all
Hunter did attack Rey after getting eliminated and he always seems to main
event Wrestlemania nowerdays doesn't he?

Rey is celebrating backstage with Benoit, Chavo and Dean Malenko when Edge
interrupts. Could this be the main event for Wrestlemania 22? We then see a
promo video for the upcoming Cena vs Edge match.

John Cena vs Edge-Cena got his usual mix of boo's, cheers and "let's go
Cena" chants, while Edge got boo's and some faint "Let's Go Edge" chants.
Surprisingly John Cena won the match with the STF(which he calls his STFU).
5.5/10-Disappointing match! It had some good moments and was solid
throughout but interesting it wasnt! My worries that Triple H will main
event Wrestlemania again as Champion are becoming more likely as Raw now
has a babyface Champion-just what it needs for Triple H to regain before
Wrestlemania!

Backstage Edge is furious at losing and so is Lita but then she spots
Hacksaw Jim Duggan who says he's there on behalf of John Cena to say
HOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! LMFAO! Now thats the best moment in Hacksaw Jim Duggan's
career EVER! Actually thats proberbly the ONLY moment in Hacksaws career i
have enjoyed, but i must say that why on earth was Duggan dressed in his
wrestling attire? Do we really need to see his "physique"???

Next up Kurt Angle gives an interview about his upcoming match with Mark
Henry and a video promo is shown of their story. Now i know theres no way
in hell Henry can win here but after tonights shocking Rumble win i think
that ANYTHING can happen in the WWE! If Henry wins the title i'm boycotting
Smackdown altogether! I mean i could just about stand J.B.L as Champion(you
could get a decent brawl out of him at least) but Mark Henry is totally and
utterly useless and i've no idea what the writers are snorting to think
that fans want to see him pushed into the main event!

Mark Henry vs Kurt Angle-Oh my goodness! Even the great Kurt Angle couldn't
drag a decent match out of Mark Henry here! 4/10-Very boring match that
ended when Kurt Angle hit Henry's head off the exposed steel turnbuckle and
got the 3 count but as he began to celebrate The Undertaker's music hit and
ladies and gentlemen we have our "No Way Out" main event. Who is the heel
here though? Is there a heel here or is this one of those face vs face
matches? If so why is Smackdown advertising Mark Henry and The Undertaker
vs Randy Orton and Kurt Angle? Henry's a heel and so is Orton so whats the
deal? If The Undertaker wins the title at No Way Out i really hope we don't
have another Orton vs Undertaker match at Wrestlemania cause that feud was
done to death in 2005! Angle vs Undertaker at Wrestlemania would be ok but
i wonder if it could possibly be Rey Mysterio vs The Undertaker? We'll just
have to wait and see i guess but as i see it right now the following
matches are likely to take place at Wrestlemania XXII....HBK/Shane Mcmahon,
Trish/Mickey James, Rey Mysterio vs either Triple H, Edge, Kurt Angle or
The Undertaker. As for The Royal Rumble 2006 i'll give it 5/10-a good
opener, two AWFUL matches, a entertaining Royal Rumble match, an ok WWE
Title match and a boring World Title match. An improvement on last years
Rumble but still not up to the standard as previous Rumbles. As a PPV it's
poor stuff but the Cruiserweight match and the Rumble match just about made
it worth the £14.99

1993 WWF Royal Rumble Review

Royal rumble 1993 review by reader the antichrist
send your view on this review to him at theantichrist4@activemail.co.uk

Its January 1993 and its time for The Royal Rumble. This year see's WWF
Champion Bret Hart's second title defense on PPV following his successful
first defense against Shawn Michaels at the 1992 Survivor Series a few
months earlier. However at this event, Bret will be facing proberbly his
toughest challenge todate against a relative newcomer to the WWF Razor
Ramon who in a matter of months has become the number one contender for the
biggest prize in sports entertainment. Razor is of course Scott Hall who a
year earlier was jobbing in WCW as The Diamond Studd. On paper this looked
like a promising match and if Bret Hart could carry guys like Skinner and
The Mountie to decent matches then we could be assured he could carry
anybody he faces. Thankfully Scott Hall was an extremely talented wrestler
for a bigman and was at the peak of his Latino heel Gimmick-eat your heart
out Carlito! Also on the card we would see Shawn Michaels defending his
Intercontinental Championship against his for tag team partner Marty
Jannetty in a match that would mark the return of Sensational Sherri-the
lady who had guided Shawn since he became a singles star a year earlier.
But who's corner would Sherri be in? Would she be in Jannetty's-the man who
hit her over the head with a mirror, albiet inadvertantly or would she be
in Shawn's-the man she guided from the beginning but also the man who
caused her to be hit by the mirror Jannetty was targeting Shawn with! On
paper this looked like another promising match especially with these two
being former partners who knew each other better than anyone. The Big
Bossman would meet the returning superstar Bam Bam Bigelow in a battle of
the bigmen. The Bossman was a decent worker back in 1993 and Bigelow had
always been an exceptional bigman so this match looked like it could
suprise us. The Royal Rumble would also feature the debut of 4 former WCW
superstars. Firstly we'd see The Steiner Brothers take on The Beverly
Brothers in tag team action-a match that had a predictable result but it
would be interesting to see how the Steiner's brand of amateur wrestling
and power moves would cross over to the WWF fans. Former WCW Champion Lex
Luger would also debut at this event, but he would not be in a match. Luger
would be unveiled by Bobby Heenan during the event-obviously as a successor
to Rick Rude who had left the WWF for WCW years earlier. Anyone who watched
WCW knew Luger was limited in the ring but he had "the look" to make it in
the business and more importantly Vince's steroid pumped vision of sports
entertainment. Luger was seen as a successor to Rude in the short term and
a successor to Hulk Hogan in the longterm but would he succeed in the WWF?
Finally the 4th debuting WCW star is......hmmm you'll have to read on to
find out because this "wrestler" wasn't announced to be at the PPV and
appeared as a suprise to everyone, particularly a certain former WWF
Champion and one of the favourites in tonights Royal Rumble. Finally who
would win the Rumble? This year we had no clear winner but a handful of
favourites including Randy Savage, Yokozuna and The Undertaker. Last years
winner Ric Flair was also in the 1993 Rumble but it was pretty obvious that
he'd end up getting eliminated by Mr Perfect-who he was locked in a bitter
feud with at the time.

Gorilla Monsoon and Bobby Heenan are on commentary for this event and this
would be their final appearence together on PPV commentary.

The Steiner Brothers defeated The Beverly Brothers in a decent opening
match which had it's dull moments when The Beverly's were in control but
the match had many highs when The Steiners were in control including their
trademark suplexes. Scott Steiner caught Blake Beverly in a vicious
Frankensteiner with a sick landing to score the pin. An obvious outcome to
a solid opener. 6.5/10-who would have thought that 10 years later at the
2003 Royal Rumble the same mat wrestling powerhouse Scott
Steiner would be a shell of his former self, blowing move after move and
sucking wind only a few minutes into his match with Triple H.

Lord Alfred Hayes interviews Sensational Sherri as we see a recap of the
Shawn Michaels/Marty Jannetty feud.

Shawn Michaels defeated Marty Jannetty in a good match that although
exciting in places, sagged abit in the middle when Shawn worked over
Jannett's shoulder. Sherri revealed late in the match who's side she was on
when she slapped Shawn across the face and proceded to hit him with her
shoe but accidently hit Marty instead. Shawn gave Marty a weak early
version of his Sweet Chin Music to score the victory. 7/10-Shawn went
backstage to confront a hysterical Sherri but Marty made the save and the
two brawled backstage.

Bam Bam Bigelow defeated The Big Bossman in an average encounter that had
some good stuff from the two bigmen but you are likely to be reaching for
the fast forward button to get to those good moments as theres alot of rest
holds in this one. 5/10-Bigelow won with his flying headbutt and The
Bossman would soon be seen in WCW under the best forgotten Guardian Angel
gimmick.

We see Razor Ramon assaulting Bret Hart's brother Owen during an interview
which is hilarious to say the least.

Bret Hart defeated Razor Ramon in a very good back and forth match thats
become quite underrated over the years. Razor worked over Bret's ribs, Bret
worked over Razor's leg, Bret locked in his Sharpshooter out of nowhere and
got the submission. 8/10-This is a feud that should have continued and
these two would have another great match later in the year at The King Of
The Ring 1993.
Bobby Heenan unveils Lex Luger who poses in front of a mirror for about 5
minutes before giving an interview which does little more than to promote
Lex Luger's feud with Mr Perfect. They would battle at "Wrestlemania IX" in
a
dull match and by the summer of 1993 Luger would be turned babyface and
pushed to the moon by Vince and his "Lex Express" idea which saw Luger tour
the country promoting himself as the second coming of Hulk Hogan. however
Luger's popularity in the WWF soon diminished-mainly due to poor matches
and by 1994 he was jobbing to the likes of Tatanka before defecting to WCW
in 1995. This was seen as one of the biggest failures in WWF history and
Luger's career never fully recovered despite recapturing the WCW Title in
the late 90's.

The crowd is then subjected to one of the worst segments in Wrestling
history. A speech by some guy claiming to be Julias Ceasar with a girl on
his arm claiming to be Cleopatra! The costumes in "Carry On Cleo" were more
convincing! Ceasar adresses the crowd as Romans for some reason and
understandably the segment drew boo's from the crowd who wondered why they
had to endure such nonsense.
Number 1 is.......Ric Flair!!! The man who won the Royal Rumble the
previous year can certainly go the distance as proved when he won the WWF
Title after entering the Rumble at Number 3. Number 2 is.....Bob
Backlund??? Thats right the man who 10 years previously was WWF Champion
returns to the ring at the age of 43. A great way to start the match with
two legends who've never met in the ring before. If Flair had stayed on
with the WWF in 1993, he would have been tipped to face Mr Perfect at
Wrestlemania but since Perfect was booked into a program with Lex Luger i'd
have had Flair vs Backlund at "Wrestlemania" which could have been an old
school classic. However Flair left the following night after losing a
career ending match to Mr Perfect and Backlund was soon on jobbing duty,
most memorably to Razor Ramon at "Wrestlemania IX". Backlund did enjoy a
short WWF Title reign in late 1994 though. Flair and Backlund went back and
forth in the ring until Papa Shango came out as Number 3. Shango went to
work on Backlund but was soon eliminated by Flair less than 30 seconds
after entering! Ted Dibiase is Number 4 and he joins forces with his old
pal Flair to double team Backlund until Nasty Boy Brian Knobbs hits the
ring to make the save. Ted Dibiase's former bodyguard turned arch-nemesis
and soon to be career jobber, Virgil is Number 6 and he goes right for The
Million Dollar Man. Brian Knobbs gets eliminated by Ted Dibiase as Jerry
Lawler makes his WWF PPV debut. Lawler goes toe to toe with Ric Flair while
Maxx Moon enters the ring. Moon had the unenviable gimmick of a space
travelling grappler. Moon is soon eliminated after missing a spinning wheel
kick in the turnbuckle before Japanese superstar Tenyru hits the ring.
Skinner is out next while the action in th ring is pretty boring. This
would soon change as Mr Perfect storms down the aisle faster than anyone in
WWF history. The crowd goes wild and Perfect goes straight after Flair.
Headshrinker Samu is out next. Mr Perfect eliminates Ric Flair to the
crowds delight but then we are back to dull in ring action. Koko B Ware
comes down the aisle in his baggy pants-they suited the wacky Koko but
Koko's partner at the time Owen Hart would never be taken seriously while
he looked like a circus act! The Bezerker hits the ring chanting "Huss" and
goes after everyone. Mr Perfect has eliminated Skinner and soon he
eliminates Jerry Lawler who is so irate that he attacks Perfect and aids
Ted Dibiase and Koko B Ware in eliminating him from the match. Perfect and
Lawler brawl for a few seconds before being separated. During the
elimination of Perfect, The Bezerker eliminates Virgil from the match.
Number 14 is....The Undertaker who draws the biggest pop of the night so
far. The Phenom wastes no time in eliminating everyone in sight, starting
with Samu by chokeslamming him out. Next is Tenyru who gets backdropped
out. During The Undertakers dominance, The Bezerker drags Bob Backlund
outside and gives him some WEAK chair shots. Number 15 is The Red Rooster!
Oh no i mean Terry Taylor who is wearing the same attire he wore as the
Rooster but he is now playing a heel character called "Terrific" Terry
Taylor. Koko B Ware and Taylor go at it before both are eliminated by
Dibiase. But Dibiase is the next to hit the arena floor courtesy of The
Undertaker.

Bob Backlund has not been eliminated but is on the outside in pain from the
chair shots from The Bezerker. The Undertaker and The Bezerker are going at
it but the crowds eyes are on the aisle because a huge giant is on his way
to the ring. This is the other WCW star that i was talking about, however
this one lacks the wrestling ability of The Steiners and the physique of
Lex Luger. It can only be......El Gigante!!! El Gigante was a giant
babyface in WCW but now he's appeared as an unamed heel who's later known
as Giant Gonzalez. However this guy may be 7 foot 7, but he is also
extremely thin! The genius's at the WWF decided to bulk Gonzalez up by
clothing him in a ridiculous muscle suit complete with hair! Someone
obviously screwed up because they forgot to design underwear for the suit
and Gonzalez comes out looking like a naturist! Anyone without their
contact lenses in or glasses on may have thought they were witnessing a
streaker coming down the aisle! The Undertaker eliminates The Bezerker and
turns to face the first man who he's ever looked up to in his career.
Gonzalez dwarfs Undertaker and it's definetly a memorable moment in WWF
history but this feud would produce some of the worst matches in wrestling
history! Gonzales eliminates Undertaker despite not being in the Rumble and
proceeds to disable The Phenom by ramming his leg against the steel post.
The Rumble entrants have been coming down the aisle and are too scared to
enter the ring. However once the naked Giant has left the arena, Damien
Demento and I.R.S drag Bob Backlund into the ring and double team him
before turning on each other. The Undertaker is still lying helpless in the
ring as Tatanka hits the ring to a decent pop.

The Undertaker rises once Paul Bearer comes to ringside with the urn and
limps up the aisle. Nasty Boy Jerry Saggs is out next and he goes straight
for I.R.S. The massive Typhoon enters the ring and assaults Damien Demento
in the turnbuckle. The Future Rikishi, Headshrinker Fatu is out next and he
unleashes a devestating superkick on Typhoon. Typhoons partner Earthquake
walks down the aisle to a decent pop and suprisingly attacks his own
partner. Typhoon fights back but is soon eliminated by Earthquake. Carltio
Caribbean Cool's father Carlos Colon is out next and Gorilla Monsoon makes
a hilarious screw up by calling Carlos a youngster! Damien Demento is
eliminated as Tito Santana enters. Earthquake eliminates I.R.S. The 500
pound Yokozuna enters the ring next and immediately eliminates Tatanka and
Carlos Colon. The entire arena is then standing on its feet as Yokozuna and
Earthquake lock eyes. Owen Hart hits the ring during the staredown and
Earthquake gets the best of Yoko, knocking him into the corner before
giving him a splash. Earthquake tries again but misses and Yokozuna belly
to belly suplexes him out of the ring. Rick Martel is out next and he goes
at it with his former partner Tito Santana. The former Demolition Smash,
Repo Man is out next and soon every wrestler in the ring gangs up on
Yokozuna but he fights them all off. Finally Macho Man Randy Savge runs to
the ring to a monster pop and he goes straight for Repo Man. Owen Hart
dropkicks Jerry Saggs out. Yokozuna eliminates Tito and Owen. Randy Savage
eliminates Repo Man. We are down to the final 4 now and its Yokozuna, Bob
Backlund, Randy Savage and Rick Martel. Backund looks spent but he
eliminates Martel as the crowd pop and get behind the 43 year old who goes
after Yokozuna but this turns out to be a mistake an Yoko eliminates him to
the crowds boos. Yokozuna dominates Savage but misses a splash in the
corner and falls to the canvas. Savage hits Yoko with his flying elbow but
for some reason goes for the cover. Yoko kicks out and sends Savage over
the top! This is the worst ending to the Rumble match EVER!!! Not only did
it make Savage look like a bufoon but Yokozuna's Rumble win meant nothing
at "Wrestlemania" because as we all know he beat Bret Hart for the title
but a couple of minutes later he was pinned by Hulk Hogan in the worst
ending to a "Wrestlemania" EVER! The 1993 Rumble was ok, nothing special
though and the ending sucked bigtime! 6/10 On the whole i'll give the
entire event 6/10-Bret vs Razor is a must see but apart from that the other
matches ranged from average(Steiners/Beverlys, Bam Bam/Bossman) to
decent(Shawn/Marty) and the Rumble itself was nothing to write home
about. Plus the additions of Ceasar & Cleopatra and the human atrocity that
was Giant Gonzalez make this event unintentionally hilarious one. This
wasn't the best Rumble PPV of alltime(That went to 1991 or 1992 for sure)
but it was far from the worst either(That was definetly the 1988 or 1989
version). Anyhow not a bad start to 1993, a year that would be very hit and
miss for the WWF with the atrocious Wrestlemania IX, the mostly good King
Of The Ring 1993, the average Summerslam 1993 and finally Survivor Series
1993 which was proberbly the best PPV of 1993 despite having a couple of
stinkers on the card!

The first wwf uk event

This was broadcast on sky one in 1989 so click the link for results of that event. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First_WWF_UK_Event

WCW Halloween Havoc 1990

"Halloween Havoc" 1990, back when WCW was alive and well, Sting was WCW's
equivalent to Hulk Hogan but unlike
Hogan, the Stinger could match hold for hold and move for move with the
best of them and in 1990 they didn't get any better than Ric Flair who
Sting had just beaten for the World title at "The Great American Bash" 1990.
Flair was understandably irate at his loss but rather than face Sting in a
rematch Flair decided to let one of his allies take care of him, but this
ally of Flair just happened to be a near 7 foot 330
pound monster by the name of Sid Vicious! Sting had never faced anyone like
Sid before and with this being his first title defense on PPV, many thought
he had no chance of surviving Sid. Meanwhile Ric Flair may have been booked
to team with another Horseman, Arn Anderson to battle the current tag team
champions Doom(Butch Reed and Ron Simmons) for the gold but The Nature Boy
was secretly playing psychological mind games with The Stinger under the
disguise of The Black Scorpion who would show up often during Sting's
matches and interviews taunting the newly crowned champion, claiming to be
from Sting's past and often demonstrating his black magic to intimidate
Sting and his army of little stingers. Elsewhere in WCW, Lex Luger was the
reigning U.S champion and was
booked to face Stan "The Lariet" Hansen-a sort of precursor to Bradshaw(The
Acolyte version not the Ted Dibiase rip off JBL!). Hansen was a legitamatly
rough worker and
had a vicious clothesline which he dubbed "The Lariet"-today this is known
as "The Clothesline From Hell". Would Luger fall victim to "The Lariet" or
would Hansen end up like "Mean" Mark Callous(A young Undertaker wrestling
as an evil texan giant) did at the previous PPV "The Great American Bash"
1990.
The U.S tag team titles were up for grabs also as The Nasty Boys(pre
cursors to The Dudleyz) challenged The Steiner Brothers(in their heyday, i:e
before Scott discovered steroids and when he was actually a technical god
not the lethargic wreck that stank up the ring in the WWE during 2003).
Also on the card was The Fabulous Freebirds taking on Mark and Chris
Youngblood who called themselves The Renagade Warriors and finally
the greatest tag team in history in my opinion The Midnight Express would
compete in what
would be their final PPV appearence together against Ricky Morton(one half
of the Midnights greatest rivals the Rock N Role Express) and former NWA
Champion Tommy Rich. There were other matches but i'm going by the VHS
released in the UK
which only featured the six matches mentioned above.

The PPV begins with a decent enough Halloween themed opening video. A
younger, slimmer Jim Ross and a younger, slimmer and less bald Paul E
Dangerously(dressed as a vampire) are on commentary and these two had such
a great chemistry, second only to the WWF's Bobby Heenan and Gorilla
Monsoon. Tony
Schiavone(dressed in full Halloween attire) interviews Tommy Rich and Ricky
Morton before their match with
The Midnight Express.

Tommy Rich and Ricky Morton defeated The Midnight Express in a good but not
great opener. The Midnights work together as brilliantly as ever and even
as heels they were way over with the crowd drawring monster pops but Ricky
Morton really should be teaming with Robert Gibson and then we'd have
proberbly had another Rock N Roll Express vs Midnight Express classic.
Unfortunatly Gibson is injured thanks to The Freebirds, hence Tommy Rich as
Mortons partner. Rich pins Lane when The Southern Boys(Tracey Smothers and
Brad Armstrong)come to ringside
dressed as tennis clowns to distract James E while Tommy Rich hits Stan
Lane with Cornettes rackett. This was the end of The
Midnight Express but Bobby Eaton went on to become a moderately successful
singles
wrestler and World TV Champion the following year before returning to his
tag team roots in 1992 teaming with Arn Anderson in The Dangerous Alliance
led by Paul E Dangerously-a group that introduced the world of wrestling to
a certain
Stunning Steve Austin. This was a good opening contest but not a fitting
end to one of the greatest tag teams in wrestling history 7/10

Tony Schiavone interviews Sting but The Black Scorpion strikes again and
displays some his black magic to scare the kiddies and ringside. This was a
really awful storyline but the worst was yet to come when at the following
PPV Starrcade 1990 Sting battled The Black Scorpion who had one of the
silliest ring entrances of alltime featuring a dozen men dressed as The
Black Scorpion and a space ship coming down to reveal "The One True Black
Scorpion". Anyone who followed WCW at the time knew that the Scorpion was
Ric Flair because the match at Starrcade with Sting was just like any other
Sting/Flair match except Flair wasn't strutting in the ring during that one.

The Fabulous Freebirds(Michael Hayes and Jimmy Garvin) defeated The
Renagade Warriors(The Youngblood brothers) in a dull match. The Renagade
Warriors look like Tatanka's long lost ancestors and The Freebirds win with
their trademark DDT-The lame "Rolling" version! You know the one that looks
more like
a suplex rather than the implant of pain Jake Roberts used to utilise.
Boring match 3/10.

Tony Schiavone interviews The Horsemen and although we al know Sid sucked
in the ring, noone can deny he looked the business!

The Steiner Brothers defeated The Nasty Boys in a great match that was a
mix of wild brawling and the trademark Steiner power moves. Rick Steiner
busted Jerry Saggs open with a steel chair during the match and he bled
hardway! The finish came when Scott caught future "Hogan Knows Best" star
Brian Knobbs(looking like wrestlings equivalent of Ozzy Osbourne nowerdays)
in his Frankensteiner-today known simply as a hurricanrana. A great,
underrated match that is worth tracking the video down for 8/10. After the
match The Nasty Boys ram Rick Steiner's shoulder into the post before
attacking Scott during an interview with a plastic tray and a bunch of
food!!!
This should have led to a great feud but The Nasty's left WCW for the WWF
soon after to
become the WWF tag team champions and open the door for Bret Hart to become
a singles sensation.

The Horsemen(Ric Flair and Arn Anderson) wrestled Doom(Ron Simmons and
Butch Reed) to a double countout in an average encounter which has more
boring moments than anything. This match would lead to a much better
rematch which was a bloody street fight at the following PPV
"Starrcade"(WCW's Wrestlemania) in which Barry Windham would replace Ric
Flair and team with Arn to have one of the most underrated brawls in
wrestling history with Doom. A mostly boring match that only really picked
up at the end only to be letdown by the double countout ending but it was
worth it considering the classic match this feud would produce at
"Starrcade" 1990 6/10.

Stan Hansen cuts an awful promo in which he tries to scare the kiddies by
spitting tabacco on a pumpkin and showing his tabacco stained teeth as
close to the camera as he could.

Stan Hansen defeated Lex Luger to become the new U.S champion in another
average
match. Luger actually looked quite decent here which is suprising to say
the least! Luger displayed some great athleticism for a 6.5 275 pounder and
even unleashed an awesome dropkick during the match. Hansen won when Dan
Spivey(future WWF hall of shamer Waylon Mercy) tried to interfere while the
ref was down but failed however Hansen hit Luger with his trademark Lariet
and got the three count 5/10.

Tony Schiavone interviews Doom's manager Teddy Long who looked and talked
exactly the same 15 years ago as he does now! Jim Ross and Paul E are with
Missy Hyatt who predicts Sid will win the title tonight. Hyatt was WCW's
"Diva" at the time and i strongly reccommend the WCW event "Beach Blast"
1992 for Missy's greatest moment!

Sting defeated Sid Vicious in a dull main event that mainly consisted
of Sid throwing Sting around the ring and applying rest holds. The ending
of the match was totally ludirous too with Sting and Sid brawling backstage
until the camera lost
track of them. Sting and Sid soon emerged back down the rampway but
something was wrong! Sting had miraclulously gained a few pounds and grown
a good five inches taller plus his face paint which had been almost lost in
the battle with Sid had somehow reappeared untouched. Sid pinned "Sting"
but then another Sting appeared however this one was the 6.2 250 pounder
with the partialy removed face paint the fans had been watching for the
entire match! It turned out the Sting that Sid pinned was Horseman member
Barry Windham imposting as The Stinger and the real Sting had been tied up
backstage by The Horsemen in about 3 seconds so Sid could pin the fake. The
real Sting splashed Sid in the corner and rolled him up for the pin to end
a dull match 4/10.

"Halloween Havoc" 1990 was a pretty average show with only one must see
match(Steiners/Nasty Boys) and the opening contest(Rich/Morton/Midnight
Express) was the only other match that wouldn't have you looking at your
watch or pressing the fast forward button. The interviews/skits are good
for a laugh though especially the abysmal Black Scorpion stuff. On the
whole i give this PPV
5/10-A pretty poor score but if you see it selling cheap dont pass up the
chance to see the great Steiners/Nasty Boys match.

Review:DVD Review-"Cheating Death, Stealing Life"-The Eddie Guerrero StoryBy Reader The Antichrist :

Review:DVD Review-"Cheating Death, Stealing Life"-The Eddie Guerrero Story
By Reader The Antichrist : email your views on this to theantichrist4@activemail.co.uk

The title of this DVD may sound redundant now following the tragic news
that Eddie Guerrero is no longer with us, but i dont think it is! Eddie
truly DID cheat death on a number of occassions in his life and although
his past would eventually catch up with him on November 13th 2005, Eddie
Guerrero is a real inspiration to life and proof that the smallest man can
make a difference and it's not about the size of the man, it's about the
size of his heart! Over a week after Eddie's passing i still find it hard
to believe that we will no longer see Latino Heat Lying, Cheating and
Stealing his way to victory but Eddie Guerrero left behind such a rich
legacy that athough he is gone in physical form, his spirit will be with us
forever thanks to the fond memories we have of both his matches in the ring
and his personality out of the ring.

This DVD features a 45 minute documentary, which is essentially a biography
of Eddie's life, from his birth into a family of wrestling legends, to
becoming a wrestling legend in his own right chronicling his stints in
Japan, Mexico, ECW, WCW and finally the WWE. The documentary is excellent
while it lasts and i really wish it had been longer and gone into more
detail in some places but no matter how short it it, it's still an
inspirational and powerful programme that will make you both laugh and cry.
I'll
give the documentary 8.5/10-Brilliant but brief!

Also on the DVD are some extra features which included the classic Los
Guerrero Vignettes performed by Eddie and his nephew Chavo Guerrero JR,
promoting themselves as lying, cheating and stealing latino's. My favourite
Vignettes would have to be th Valet and Baby Carriage ones. We also get to
see the controversial in ring promo that started the Eddie/JBL feud in
2004, where JBL attacked Eddie at a house show then scared his mother to
the point where she had a heart attack. Also in the extras is a chance to
see the aftermath of Eddie's title win over Brock Lesnar-a very emotional
moment for Eddie and his fans. We also get to see a special look at
Wrestlemania XX where Eddie Guerrero successfully defended his WWE Title
against Kurt Angle and later famously joined newly crowned World Champion
Chris Benoit in the ring for an emotional hug that noone who saw it live
will ever forget. Why the Kurt Angle/Eddie guerrero Wrestlemania XX match
is not on this DVD though is as much a mystery as it is a crying shame! We
get a look at Eddie filming a YJ Stinger commercial,
plus the finished YJ Stinger Ad's in both English and Spanish. There are
some other extras talking about Eddie's childhood, upbringing and family,
most notably Eddie wrestling his pet monkey and a feature on Eddie's late
father Gory Guerrero.

Also on the DVD the following 10 matches presented.

Mondo, Hector & Chavo Guerrero vs Cactus Jack & The Rock N Role
RPM's-1988-(Superclash 3)This match does not feature Eddie, but his three
older brothers. Also look out for a younger and very lighter Mick Foley
wrestling as Cactus Jack and future "Beverly Brother" Mike Enos as the
referee. Hector Guerrero(wearing the white trunks) looks and moves alot
like Eddie did and you could be forgiven for thinking you are watching
"Latino Heat" himself in the ring here. The match is ok but may be abit too
obscure and old school for new fans. 7/10-Some good spots featuring the
Guerrero's.

Eddie Guerrero & Art Barr vs Octogon & El Santo-1994-(Triple A's "When
Worlds Collide" PPV)-Eddie & Art's Hair vs Octogon & Santo's Masks. This
was the match that got Eddie noticed by many of the top promotions of the
time, from up and coming companies like ECW to established franchises like
WCW who often raved about this particular match in their magazine in the
build up to Eddies WCW debut. The match itself is excellent and despite
Eddie and Art sporting some truly awful mullets, they pull off some
incredible moves here, most notably Art Barr's flawless frog spalsh.
Unfortunately Art Barr would pass away soon after this match and judging by
his performance here, the wrestling world lost a very promising prospect
indeed. 8/10-A great 2 out of 3 falls match from start to finish.

Eddie Guerrero vs Dean Malenko-1995-ECW(2 out of 3 falls match)-This is in
my opinion a perfect
wrestling match! Not only is it a testiment to both mens abilities but this
should be compulsary viewing for anyone who claims to like wrestling! You
can here some of the first "Eddie" chants here and anyone who says ECW was
just about tables, ladders and chairs would be soundly silenced upon
watching this wrestlingg classic. 10/10-This match is 25 minutes of pure
wrestling, psychology and suspense with a perfect draw ending considering
both men were leaving the company.

Eddie Guerrero vs Chris Jericho-WCW-(Fall Brawl 1997)-WCW Cruiserweight
Title Match. Oh how i miss the old
WCW double ringed PPV! The WWE really ought to have a go at resurrecting
this PPV not to mention the annual double ringed, steel caged "War Games"
event that ruled the wrestling world before Hell In A Cell came along.
Anyway back to the review, this is an excellent cruiserweight title match
that shows a more technical side to Chris Jericho than WWE Fans are used to
seeing. Eddie Guerrero looks ripped here and both he and Chris Jericho put
on a wrestling clinic that was proberbly the first match i saw where Eddie
Guerrero really caught my eye back in 1997. 9.5/10-A near perfect wrestling
match that
Chris Jericho himself claims is one
of the best of his career and it's hard to argue with that!

Eddie Guerrero vs Rey Mysterio-1997-WCW-(Halloween Havoc 1997)-Eddie's
Cruiserweight Title vs Rey's Mask. This match is awesome and is definetly
in the top 10 wrestling matches of 1997! Rey Mysterio pulled off some of
the most electrifying moves i've ever witnessed during this match while
Eddie played his heel character to perfection. 10/10-A real crowd pleaser
of a match and perhaps Eddie and Rey's best match together and boy have
they had their share of classics!

Eddie Guerrero vs Chavo Guerrero-1998-WCW(Bash At The Beach 1998)-Hair vs
Hair match. Although it's not much of a "wrestling" match, it's not really
intended to be. Chavo Guerrero played his insane gimmick brilliantly,
playing with Eddie in the ring and really getting under his skin. 7/10-A
great piece of entertainment.

Eddie Guerrero vs Rob Van Dam-2002-WWE(Raw)-Intercontinental Title Ladder
Match. This is a truly awesome match and one of the best TV matches i've
seen featuring some jaw dropping moves off the ladder, including a rolling
powerbomb from the top of the ladder by Eddie to RVD. 9/10-RVD and Eddie
had quite a few great matches during their brief feud in 2002 and this may
have been their best.

Kurt Angle & Chris Benoit vs Los Guerrero's vs Rey Mysterio &
Edge-2002-WWE(Survivor Series 2002)-Triple Threat Tag Team Title
Elimination Match. In my opinion, this match stole the show from the
overhyped first ever Elimination Chamber match at the 2002 Survivor Series.
All 6 men involved were on top form and they not only produced the best
match of the night but also one of the best matches of the year.
8.5/10-Another excellent match worthy of his collection.

Eddie Guerrero vs Chris Benoit-2003-WWE(Vengeance 2003)-U.S Title
Tournament Finals. This match took place around the time that the newly
turned heel Eddie Guerrero was starting to get cheered as much as he got
booed(which was ALOT!). This is one of the best matches of 2003 and both
Eddie and Chris put on a technical masterpiece for the most part until the
disappointing run in ending featuring Rhyno goring Benoit. The Rhyno/Benoit
feud went nowhere and i would have rather had Eddie win the match by lying,
cheating and stealing on his own accord. 9/10-Excellent match and would
have been a Match Of The Year candidate if only the ending was better.

Eddie Guerrero vs Brock Lesnar-2004-WWE(No Way Out 2004)-WWE Title Match.
This was the big one for Eddie Guerrero. The night he did the impossible
and against all odds, shocked the wrestling world by capturing the WWE
Championship-a title most associated with bigmen like Hulk Hogan and The
Rock. However, every now and then the title landed around the shoulder of
someone who truly deserved it, no matter how big they were. Bret Hart,
Shawn Michaels, Mick Foley and others had their day but this day belonged
to Eddie Guerrero who defeated Brock Lesnar in a back and forth, 30 minute
epic. This match was not only a great wrestling match but it also "told a
story" in that squared circle as the underdog Eddie, cut down the giant
Brock by attacking his legs, and no matter how many spinebusters, suplexes
or powerslams Brock would devestate Eddie with, Latino Heat refused to
quit! The match would have been ruined if Eddie had won on a pinfall after
Goldberg's spear to Lesnar but thankfully Brock kicked out and unlike the
Eddie/Benoit match mentioned above, Eddie was able to lie, cheat and steal
on his own accord and finally hit a huge frog splash on Lesnar to score the
1-2-3! 9/10-One of the best matches of 2004, almost spoilt by a run in
ending and a bunch of unappriciative idiots in the audience who chanted
"boring" at one point.

Overall a very good DVD with a very powerful, inspirational and
entertaining documentary charting the sometimes rocky but ultimately
rewarding life of Eddie Guerrero. From his early days of wrestling in his
back yard ring, to his stints in Japanese and Mexican leagues, to his short
but successful run with ECW, His troubled but memorable times in WCW and
finally the most successful point of his career in the WWE, where in 2004
he cemented his place in wrestling history by capturing the WWE
Championship title and not only did he become the first wrestler of Mexican
heritage to hold the title but i'm pretty sure that at 5 feet 8 inches, he
was the shortest Champion the WWE has ever had-which was something noone
could have predicted considering Vince's well documented love of "larger
than life" bigmen, but hats off to Vinnie Mac for recognising talent over
size and giving Eddie Guerrero something he had truly earned. The match
featuring Eddies family members and a young Mick Foley is an interesting
addition but you'll proberbly not watch it more than once. The 9 matches on
offer featuring Eddie showcase Eddie at his best but i still feel there
were a few more matches that would have been perfect for this DVD. A
streetfight in which Eddie Guerrero battled Edge on Smackdown in 2002
should have been here even though Eddie lost. The match was awesome and
Eddie recieved a standing ovation after the match. Eddie Guerrero vs Edge
from "Summerslam" 2002 was also great and would have been a worthy
addition. Also missing is Eddie Guerrero vs Rob Van Dam from "Backlash"
2002 which i thought was a great encounter. But perhaps the one match that
is missing that should have been included without a doubt is Eddie Guerrero
vs Kurt Angle from "Wrestlemania XX". A classic battle with a brilliantly
original and hilarious ending. Eddie recieved a mixed reaction at the start
of the match but as the match progressed the crowds appriciation for Eddie
grew and by the time the match had ended, Eddie had won over just about
every fan in the packed Madison Square Garden arena. Other matches i'd have
liked to have seen included are Eddie Guerrero & The Steiner Brothers vs
Too Cold Scorpio, Cactus Jack & Dean Malenko from ECW which was mentioned
briefly on the DVD. It featured six of the best workers in the business and
from the brief footage looked quite fun. Eddie Guerrero vs Too Cold Scorpio
in ECW was also highlighted on the DVD and i'd liked to have seen this one
here too. Eddie Guerreo vs Dean Malenko from WCW "Uncensored" 96 or 97
could have been here too as could Eddie Guerrero vs The Rock from Raw
2002-a very underrated match IMO. Eddie Guerrero vs Triple H from Raw in
2004 on the night of the draft lottery was great too, despite the DQ ending
and could have been included. All in all though, a great DVD that belongs
in the collection of anyone who claims to be a "serious" wrestling fan.
9/10-The last thing i would want is the WWE to cash in on Eddie's untimely
death but i'd love them to re-release this DVD possibly with a third disc
featuring both Eddie Guerrero Tribute Shows as well as some of the missing
matches i mentioned above. Plus they could also include some of Eddie's
more recent matches, most notably his suprisingly decent war with JBL at
Judgement Day 2004 and of course his ladder match with Rey Mysterio at
Summerslm 2005 If the WWE did re-release it like this though, then i think
it's only fair that all proceeeds should go to Eddie's family.

RIP Eddie. VIVA LA RAZA FOREVER!

p.s I think Eddie Guerrero should be inducted into the 2006 WWE Hall Of
Fame at Wrestlemania XXII

Wrestlemania

Wrestlemania 18 Results: http://www.wrestleview.com/messages1/1355.shtml

Wrestlemania 1 1985 results:

Match Winner(s)
1.
